Phil Payne has over 20 years of experience in IT Service Management, he is passionate about providing End Users with a professional, effective and timely level of service while breaking down the stereotypes of IT Support.
At SITS on 17 April at 3pm in Theatre 3, Phil will be taking to the stage to present ‘Making “Shift Left” a reality’. “Shift Left” is a buzz term that’s been used across the industry for some time now. However, it can often be challenging to turn it from a buzz term to a reality. Phil will share different tips and tricks that he’s seen work well in the past, including a recent example where the implementation of a new operating model at Bidvest Noonan meant “Shift Left” was a necessity and not just an aspiration
1. How did you get into the IT industry?
I started out by joining an Apprentice scheme for school leavers. My first assignment was a 1st Line Helpdesk Analyst and I haven’t looked back since!
2. What do you love most about your job?
Making things better! Whether it’s the service we offer to our business or the day to day activities of working within my team, I’m always looking to improve.
3. What do you think the biggest ITSM trends will be in the coming years?
It’s hard to ignore AI and what that could bring to the table, I’m looking forward to seeing more “Use Cases” on how it can improve ITSM and move it from being a “buzz term”
4. What can visitors expect from your seminar session at SITS?
Some tips and tricks I’ve learnt along the way! “Shift Left” is something I’ve done in different guises over the last 20 years, so I’ve picked up some useful tricks to share with others.
5. What are you most looking forward to at SITS?
I’m always keen to attend as many seminars as I can, have a look at new technology that’s out there to help us continually improve and see some familiar faces!
See Phil speak at SITS, The Service Desk & IT Support Show, on 17-18th April 2024, ExCeL London. You can now register for your free ticket here.
