With the run up to SITS18 now well underway, the UK’s leading event for 3,500 ITSM and IT support professionals has confirmed two more world class speakers to its Keynote line-up – technology evangelist Dr. Sue Black OBE and Cynefin framework creator Dave Snowden.
Taking place at Olympia London on 5-6 June, the SITS conference programme provides a unique opportunity to gain exclusive insights from a range of high-profile thought-leaders in the IT industry. Previous Keynote speakers already announced include Jan Willem Sewalt, head of service management at Starbucks, and Chris Arrington, manager of productivity tools at Airbnb.
Dave Snowden, director at Cynefin Centre, has pioneered a science-based approach to organisations. Previously working for IBM, Snowden became director of the Institution for Knowledge Management and was selected by IBM as one of six ‘on-demand’ thinkers. At the show, he’ll be offering an ecological perspective on service management to explain how predictability has a major impact on what methods and tools IT professionals can use.
As Cynefin framework is designed to navigate the complexity of service management, visitors to Snowden’s session can take away the latest ideas and tools needed to transform, evolve and improve their own IT service delivery. Key takeaways include: a guidance on managing in uncertain times, an understanding of satisfying unarticulated needs to add value, and ways to integrate service provision with strategy. The session will take place on the first day of the show (5 June) at 10am.
According to Recruitment International ‘17% of employees in the UK tech sector are women’. Whilst figures like these demonstrate the apparent gender gap, various initiatives including Ivanti’s ‘women in tech’ has been launched to help provide a new community, both online and face-to-face, for women working in all areas of the technology sector. The community provides empowerment and helps to encourage support and collaboration in the industry with various networking meet up’s and events. As part of the project, Sue Black OBE, a digital skills expert and technology evangelist, will be providing an exclusive session at SITS.
Best known for her passion in getting more women into technology and her activism around digital social inclusion, Sue Black’s talk (taking place on 5 June at 2pm) will give an exclusive insight into her own personal experience as a ‘woman in tech’ and her journey from a single mum, studying for a PhD, to an advocate for women working in the tech sector. During her inspirational career she has written a book called Saving Bletchley Park, became a Guardian columnist and made many TV appearances.
After the session, visitors can join Sue Black on the Ivanti stand (310) for prosecco, canapes and networking.
